1. Beginnings

The Day is June 5th... or is it the 6th? It was 8am when we started and it seems to be evening the next day as we finally set foot upon Venice, the city of Canals. I was like a sponge soaking up every detail amazed that I was half way across the world interacting with a culture I experienced very little of.

As I walked out of that bus, I felt like Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit leaving all familiarities into a new world that has only been known through stories. We met the rivers bustling with boats and people as they reflected on the glass waters. White and Beige apartment buildings crowded the rivers like those looking at a spectacle. They left little space for pedestrians walking by.

Venice

A hour or so later we had our first meal together in Venice. This became one of the most memorable dinners. Not because of the quality but their service. The waiters were getting orders, handing out drinks when suddenly a glass full of Coke falls. It splashed onto the table and fired directly onto my light blue sweatshirt that has never been worn. The start of an adventure, a story of a lifetime.
