2. Exploring Venice

1. Venice
I find myself back in Papanoes class sketching dagramatic plans for the piaza San Marco in Venice. The large public area meant to welcome in sailors as a forfront to their grand city. There’s much seating around the edges where small shops reside. The next moment, I am standing in the center, my eyes boucing aroud like an olympic ping pong match. I was suprised how such an open floor plan, much too large according to William Whyte, can be so full of people. The old brick watch tower towards the center conquers in height of all of its surroudings. It is faced alongside both the Basilica di San Marco and the doge palace who are of equal granduar.

Main Bridge, Venice
The web of streets envelope the entirety of Venice. The lack of cars was surprisingly delightful, everything everywhere was forced to be traversed by foot or boat. I found it interesting that all the supplies for every store was brought in by boat then taken by wagon. All the public transportation were boats. There were some areas that was only reachable by boat.

Arial View, Venice
It was there in Venice I began to notice a similar reoccurring pattern of a circle of circles.
