6. Gardens and Views

5/18-5/20

I imagined the Cappella Dei Piazzi to have more space of its own rather than seemingly thrown into the backyard. There was what seemed to be a high school choir practicing in the building. I was blown away of how goo the acoustics were inside. I felt the music in its echoless chambers. they filled the entire space with their voices yet it didn't feel crowded.
Sketching the Piazzi was a challenge. The staff overseeing the area forbid us to sit on the grass or the walkway claiming that the area "was not a park" and only to be used as a transitional space.

The Boboli garden was one of my favorite stops in Florence. it turned out to be right behind our apartment. The grass and hedges were perfectly upkept. It had a very large plan with paths branching out of two main sightlines.
IMG_6261.jpgThere were benches and chairs scattered around leaving for peacful rest spots for its hilly terrain.

Siena was a fun town to visit. Its Duomo was beautifully ornate, being in the gothic style.

I was not a fan of its outdoor public space at the entrance. It was a slanted, simple, cobblestone floor meant to be sat on like a grass field.
It had a strange ovular shape with no clear paths to travel through.
Atop the Duomo we were able to see the entire city and beyond it: fields as far as the eye can see. It was a spectacular view.
